Michelle moved to Canberra, Australia in 2013 to complete her postgraduate study. She was conferred a Masters of International Law from the Australian National University in 2015. Michelle was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in April 2015.
Began her career
Michelle started her legal career proper in 2014 as a paralegal in Canberra. Throughout her tenure, she assisted senior-level solicitors in the areas of property law, wills, estate administration, and other varied commercial law matters.
Came to Taupo
Born in Bury St Edmunds, England, Michelle and her family moved to Taupō in November 2003 and became New Zealand citizens in 2008. They have been based here ever since.
Michelle specialises in property, commercial and trusts law. Her areas of practice to date include residential and commercial conveyancing, advising and providing assistance to first home buyers, large and small scale residential and rural subdivisions, preparation of enduring powers of attorney and wills, providing advice in relation to occupation licences for retirement villages, advising on house and land packages and building contracts, and various other commercial and trust matters.
How did she get into these areas?
Michelle has a wide and varied background in property, in which she developed a particular interest around 2008. In 2010, as a personal interest subject, Michelle completed her qualifications as a Real Estate Salesperson. Although she has never practiced as a Real Estate Agent, Michelle has worked for large and successful national agencies in Christchurch and Canberra, both as a personal and sales assistant. Through these roles, she has gained experience in residential sales, property management and large-scale project development.
Michelle naturally gravitated towards a conveyancing role in Canberra, before deciding to move back to Taupō to begin her legal practicing career. Having returned to Taupo, she hopes to further develop her penchant for property law, whilst also expanding her knowledge and expertise as a general practitioner.
What she enjoys about her work

Michelle is an active individual, and you can often find her running, walking, cycling or swimming in and around our beautiful lake. She is also a dedicated student of yoga. Now that she is planning to stay put for a while, Michelle hopes to re-learn how to play piano.
