She has worked in the litigation teams for an Auckland and South Island practice representing both private and corporate clients, and worked for a number of years in resource management. She has also appeared before various tribunals and professional bodies. After returning to the North Island where she worked in the family team of a large provincial firm, Nicky moved to Taupō with her family in 2010 taking up the position at Le Pine & Co.
Nicky now works primarily in the area of relationship property law, an area which has been of particular interest to her during her years in practice. She advises on appropriate methods of protecting and sharing of assets including drafting and advising on contracting out agreements, and related trust matters. Nicky also advises and assists clients with resolving their property matters following separation.
Increasingly, relationship property agreements involve the restructuring of complex financial arrangements including companies, family trusts, and estate planning. Providing for family members in a blended family situation can raise challenging issues for some couples and requires specialist knowledge and skills.
With her experience in family law and dispute resolution, including meditation, Nicky's goal when working with clients is to encourage a conciliatory approach to resolving family property issues and she gains satisfaction from assisting in that process.
Nicky enjoys cooking, reading, music and art, and is an avid tennis fan.
