LLB obtained from the University of Auckland.
Background
During Terry's early life his family lived at and near airfields in New Zealand and Fiji while his father served in the RNZAF and later civil aviation.
Terry undertook his secondary education at Pompallier College, Whangarei and St Peters College, Epsom and attended both Waikato University and the University of Auckland.
Terry arrived in Taupō in October 2009.
Work areas
Terry's work involves commercial and private contracts, tax, financing and land law. Further specialist areas are assisting clients meet immigration and Overseas Investment Act requirements.
Legal experience
Terry started his legal career in Auckland in1993 working in litigation, mainly contract, family and employment disputes. In 1996 Terry moved into property and commercial law work when taking up a position with a Nelson firm. Terry undertook further study in taxation and maintains a continuing interest in taxation law.
During his time in Nelson he developed his immigration and Overseas Investment Act practices having completed many successful applications since 1999.
Industries he has been involved with include commercial property, rural land, wine, mussel farming and aquaculture, residential development, retirement villages, motels, overseas investment and New Zealand immigration.
Things which catch his imagination
Outside of work Terry has had a lifelong interest in outdoor activities and completed the Ironman triathlon twice in the very early days of the event in Auckland, New Zealand.
Terry also has an eye for classic cars and boats. Terry highly recommends the Lake Rotoiti (Nelson Lakes), Classic Boat Regatta to any boating enthusiast.
